Duplicate Journal Assignments
by Leo Ureel - Saturday, December 6 2008, 05:55 PM

Teachers:

One of our teachers noticed that graded Journal entries do not show up in the Moodle grade book. After a little digging, I found out that the Journal feature has been deprecated and is no longer being updated. Journals are not compatible with the new grade book, introduced in the current version of Moodle.

The only fix I was able to find was a program that converted Journal entries to Assignments. The assignments show up in the grade book. As a result of running this program, every Journal in Moodle was converted to an Assignment.

A side effect of the program is that, for every Journal in a course, there is now a Journal and an identicle Assignment. If you are happy using the Assignment, you can delete the Journal. If, however, you remain happy with the Journal, even though the grades are not reflected in the grade book, then you may keep the Journal and delete the Assignment.

If you have any questions, please email me: support AT remc1 DOT net

Leo
